Some people see a need and wring their hands. Others, like chef Jim Shirley — the nationally-recognized restaurateur behind local establishments such as Great Southern Cafe and The Bay — see a need and spring into action.
With supplies at some grocery stores dwindling, people hesitant to make trips out in public, and restaurants struggling to balance the needs of their employees, customers and inventory, Shirley jumped on an opportunity to fill a void he saw in the communities he serves. He opened an online store — located at North Beach Tortilla Co. in South Walton — offering pizzas; burgers; groceries; wine, beer and liquor; and the ever-coveted paper products.
It’s easy to place an order: Simply visit the online store or phone ahead and employees will bring your purchase to your vehicle. They also offer contactless delivery within a six-mile radius. They are open daily from noon to 8 p.m.
Shirley offered, while adding a touch of humor: “We are in this together (until you’re in the TP aisle and the shelves are as dry as the Sahara).”
