Allegiant Airlines just announced the debut of non-stop service from the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) to seven new cities throughout the United States: Des Moines, Iowa; Huntington (Tri-State), West Virginia; Little Rock, Arkansas; Rockford/Chicago, Illinois; Shreveport, Louisiana; Toledo, Ohio/Detroit, Michigan; and Wichita, Kansas.
“We couldn’t be more proud of our partnership with Allegiant Air and the seven new non-stop flights from the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport, bringing our total to 37 non-stop destinations,” said Tracy Stage, Okaloosa County Airports Director. “Allegiant’s confidence in our airport and the Emerald Coast has provided vacation travelers with an opportunity to visit our beautiful beaches, and our local residents the opportunity to visit destinations we’ve never had before – all at an affordable cost.”
In light of Allegiant’s now 29 destinations operating from VPS and the recently published Master Plan Update for the infrastructure vision of the next 20 years at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport, Allegiant agreed to a partnership to fund the $7 million new Concourse-C terminal building at the airport. This concourse will provide security checkpoint and concourse space to accommodate up to five aircraft parking positions. “We can’t move fast enough,” Stage noted, “and we’re absolutely thrilled at this unprecedented commitment to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport, Okaloosa County, the Tourist Development Council and the many businesses this will effect.”
