Editor’s note: This month’s Business Beacon spotlights The 30A Barista, a personal barista service that brings coffee right to you, served at the highest level. Founder and owner Patrick Price talks to us about being the country’s first and only in-home personal barista experience. Find them on Facebook, Instagram, and the web.
Do you have an interesting topic you think we should cover? Leave a comment below!
1. How did you get the idea or concept for your business?
PP: I asked God how I could use my love and gift of making coffee to start a business that would allow me to work for myself and take care of my family. He gave me this idea, and it has been growing ever since!
2. Let’s discuss numbers: What year did you open? How many locations do you have? How many people do you employ?
PP: We were founded in 2023. We currently serve all along the Emerald Coast (with plans to expand to other cities very soon). We currently have two baristas on staff & will be hiring more soon.
3. What do you sell or what service do you provide? What’s your best seller?
PP: We provide the country’s first and only in-home personal barista experience. We come to you, whether that is your office or vacation rental, and make you world-class lattes right where you are.
4. What’s unique about what you do or offer?
PP: We serve everything that you could find in a coffee shop, right in the comfort of your home – while maintaining a quality that is hard to find even in the best of shops. We are the only Personal Barista Experience in the country, and we serve a very exclusive, high-end level of clientele.
5. How would you describe your business to a potential customer?
PP: We bring an entire coffee shop to you – in a 2-ft. x 2-ft. space. It’s more than just coffee … it’s an experience, and one that you will want to brag about for weeks to come.
6. What do you love most about your line of work?
PP: The people I get to meet. Making coffee has always allowed me to meet all sorts of people from every walk of life, and I get to have a few minutes talking with every single one of them.
7. What sorts of trends are you seeing in your industry?
PP: People are really starting to appreciate and want to learn the true art of espresso and latte art. It brings me joy because I love getting to share what I know and love with these people entering this fun world of coffee.
8. Tell me in just a sentence or two what you feel sets you apart from your competitors.
PP: To be honest, we don’t have anyone doing what we’re doing right now. But for those in the coffee space, our coffee program is world-class—from being trained by baristas in Japan to sourcing and roasting our own beans … everything about our brand is the highest level of excellence.
9. Who or what inspires you? This could be a family member or celebrity, a particular quote or even a book/movie/podcast. The sky’s the limit!
PP: My daughter. Once she came into the world, she immediately inspired and drove me to become the best person I could be. That is why we named our line of coffee after her – the IRIE Blend.
10. What’s the best thing about being a part of the Emerald Coast, personally and/or professionally?
PP: No. 1, I have to say the beach. It’s like living in paradise. I would also have to say the clientele – getting to meet so many other wildly successful entrepreneurs is motivating while also having an endless amount of people to talk business questions with.
11. Are you/your business involved in the community in any way? Volunteering or giving back? If so, how?
PP: Not at the moment, but we have plans of starting a coffee school/course for children to develop a skill that they can use for work well into their adult years!
12. What does a typical day in your business look like? (Pretend it’s Monday (or Friday!) and take me through the highlights of your day.)
PP: I wake up and give my wife and daughter a kiss before heading out the door. I make my way down some beautiful residential street near the beach, and pull up to a gorgeous home. I get out and am greeted by a group of people who are beaming with excitement (they’re just happy to see coffee haha). I set up in their home or by their pool, serve them artisanal pastries, take their coffee orders, and begin to prepare all the beverages. I serve each handcrafted beverage while getting to know this new group of people, and get to hear all of their funny stories or good life advice. After making them extra drinks for later, I wipe down the kitchen, pack up, and head to a few more houses for the same experience. I then get to go home earlier than most to my family, and we almost always go to the beach to finish the day. It’s an amazing life!
13. What’s your best “insider tip?” (This could be a community tip for vacationers or homeowners or even a tip for customers related to your business.)
PP: If you are local, ask your restaurant or coffee shop for a locals’ discount – most of them have one. 😉
14. How do you recharge or relax when the day is done?
PP: I like to work out, read and make coffee for myself to recharge!
15. Just the deets, please! Where are you located? Business hours? Social media profiles and/or website links we need to know about? (Please feel free to add social media handles or direct links!)
PP: We are located wherever you are! We are available to serve 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. My Instagram and FB are @the30abarista. My website is the30abarista.com.
16. One final question: If there was just one thing you wish the public knew about your business, what would it be?
PP: That we can serve anywhere from two to 200 people! Whether it’s a coffee service for a honeymoon couple or a weddings of 200, we are able and ready to serve you!
