What a Fall this is shaping up to be! The only question is whether you will have time to enjoy all the events and happenings. Here are some of the main events coming to South Walton fall of 2016.
We’ll start with the Walton County Fair will take place October 3-8, 2016 at the Walton County Fairgrounds in DeFuniak Springs. There will be tons of family fun with rides, youth activities, contest entries and live entertainment. The Fair provides an opportunity for youth and adults to showcase their talents for artwork, handicrafts, growing crops and rearing livestock. Exhibits at the fair include animal, art, agriculture, handicrafts, potted plants, photography, and canned foods divisions. Adult tickets are $5 and children are $3.
South Walton Fashion Week, held at Grand Boulevard at Sandestin, will celebrate high fashion at a number of events to include the launch party, runway shows, special designer shows, trunk shows and pop-up shops. It begins on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 and runs through Sunday, October 9, 2016. Included at the event are the Style Lounge featuring pop-up boutiques, a VIP lounge and a full bar, along with the main theater and runway.
Join Fonville Press in Alys Beach for an evening of Wine & Song on Tuesdays from 5:00-7:00 pm each week through Nov 2016. Special Wine & Song dates later this year are November 25 and December 17, 2016.
Through October 7, 2016, the artists at Gulf Place and Gordie Hinds Gallery will host the Gulf Place First Friday Art Walk in conjunction with the Artists of 30A First Friday Art Walk. Participating South Walton art galleries stay open late to display their art from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Artists at Gulf Place will hold their Battle of the Brushes with local artists painting in a competition and selling the paintings at the end of the night. Another First Friday ArtWalk is held each first Friday of each month from 4:00-7:00pm in Seaside at Shops of Ruskin.
The Nashville Songwriters Tour at The Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin commences October 7- and 8, 2016. The 7th annual Nashville Songwriters Florida Sunshine Tour brings top songwriters to perform at restaurants and venues throughout the Village for two nights of music. The concert schedule will showcase ten or more Nashville songwriters who will sing country’s biggest hits and share the stories behind the songs. All performances are offered free to the public.
The Baytowne Beer Fest takes place in the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort on October 14 and 15, 2016. More than 200 domestic and international craft beers will be available for sampling. The main event on Saturday, October 15 will feature Brewery representatives offering an opportunity to learn about the different types of lagers and ales. Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival partners with the Fisher House and Sandestin Foundation for Kids and donates a part of the festival proceeds to them.
The 30A Half Marathon and 5K will take place October 21-23, 2016, beginning and ending at Gulf Place and will feature 13.1 miles of scenic beauty. All proceeds from this event will benefit The Sonder Project and their mission to end extreme poverty and hunger worldwide.
For your Halloween pleasure, Noches de los Muertos costume party at Caliza pool at Alys Beach starts at 8:00 pm on Friday October 28 until 11:30. There will be $1,000 cash prize for best costume! Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door.
Other Halloween events include Trick or Treat Seaside on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. You can hop on the haunted hayride, hear spooky stories with the Seaside Rep Theatre, and do the monster mash in Central Square. Grand Boulevard at Sandestin presents Halloween on the BOOlevard of Fun on Monday, October 31, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Town Center. Both these family-friendly events are open to the public at no charge.
The 26th Annual SEASIDE® Seeing Red Wine Festival® Weekend will take place in and around Seaside, November 3-6, 2016. The four days of festivities include reserve wine tastings, dinners and a brunch with featured guest winemakers. 100% of event proceeds benefit the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, which benefits Northwest FL children in need.
The MountainFilm Festival, based in Telluride, Colorado, will attract thousands of moviegoers to Watercolor Resort November 7-8, 2016 for this beachside event. For the fourteenth year, the outdoor film festival brings to the screen an array of independent films and offer excellent food and drink options.
The annual Flutterby Festival comes to Rosemary Beach November 12 and 13, 2016 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Flutterby Festival is a children’s arts festival which celebrates the arts and the migration of the Monarch Butterfly along Scenic Highway 30A.
Old Florida Holiday & Winter Market at WaterColor’s Town Center and Parks will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This event features falling snow, a horse-drawn carriage, a bonfire with s’mores, pictures with Santa Claus, the lighting of the tree, live music, and luminary lighting throughout the WaterColor community.
