School may be back in session, but the need at Food For Thought Outreach continues.
You may remember in August that Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty, along with others businesses in Walton and Okaloosa Counties, participated in a friendly competition to help fill Food For Thought’s shelves during its 5th annual Stock the Pantry event.
Over the period of a month, our staff, agents, clients and friends donated food items and funds to help this local organization bridge the gap between school meals during weekends and holiday breaks. The goal of Food For Thought is to help support a child’s development and educational experience by providing healthful, easy-to-prepare foods in backpacks the students can take home. Currently, they reach 3,000 students in 32 schools every week.
Food For Thought hosted its fifth annual Stock the Pantry party on Thursday, August 23, to unveil all of the donations received and crown a winner. Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty was awarded first place for contributing more than 77,000 food items to the drive. In total, 226,000 food items were donated to Food For Thought, enough to feed the children in their program for almost eight weeks. Thanks to all of you who participated!
It’s never too late to get involved with Food For Thought. The non-profit organization receives no state or federal support; instead, they rely on funds raised by donors, grants and community events. For more information about their mission or to donate or volunteer, visit fftfl.org.
