The month of August was a busy one not only for real estate in the Florida Panhandle but also for philanthropic efforts.

For the fourth consecutive year, the agents and staff at Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty joined forces with Food For Thought Outreach for its annual Stock the Pantry food drive. A combination virtual fundraiser and in-person food collection drive, the agency’s goals for 2021 were set at $125,000 and 100,000 donated food items. In 2020, teams who participated in the food drive contributed funds in excess of $204,000 for the organization.
Food For Thought serves at least 3,400 students each week through its backpack program, amounting to more than two million food items over the course of the year. The backpack program provides sacks of food for food-insecure children at 34 schools in Walton and Okaloosa Counties to take home on the weekend. Over the past year and a half, Food For Thought has also provided meals for 600-plus families in need at five area locations.
A results party for 2021’s efforts was canceled by the nonprofit out of an abundance of caution for individual safety and well-being. As of August 27, 2021, Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty raised $59,418 toward the nonprofit’s annual goal, as part of nearly $208,000 raised by individuals and businesses throughout the community.
